Kellie Hunnius

Australian Artist

I am an Australian artist who grew up in Sydney’s Southwest, now living in Leonay at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Painting has been a passion of mine since the age of seven when I painted a sunny beach scene on a piece of cardboard one rainy day when Netball had been cancelled and I was bored. Inspired and encouraged by my Public-School Art teachers, I continued with my art, while gaining my teaching degree, working for the Dept. of Education, and raising my beautiful kids. I mainly use acrylic paints and mixed media as I love to experiment with colours and textures and varied techniques and styles, some of my works contain resin for that liquid glass effect also. I don’t stick to one style of painting: “life is too short for that”. I tend to be inspired by nature, Australian flora, fauna, landscapes, water, and people. I have painted for friends, family, schools, musical set departments, The Royal Agricultural Society, all by word of mouth. I get a real buzz from making beautiful art and art lovers happy. I would love to be inspired by your ideas also!
